They’ll live to regret that.”
I’m a fan of Graydon Carter’s work at Vanity Fair, but the truth is I would probably never want to dress like him.
The same goes for Glenn O’Brien, who’s written a great book called “How to Be A Man” (Which I highly recommend).
Glenn questions why a man would ever wear a black suit outside of a black tie event or funeral. I question why I would ever want a navy suit if I don’t plan to sit in a cubicle for the rest of my life.
“Classic” styles are still affected by the fashion of the times. And Graydon strikes me as a man that would probably advise me not to get sleeve tattoos or wear sneakers past the age of 16.
I would go mad trying to make decisions based on what I think I would regret 40 years down the line. And I don’t think my world will end if my children find the photo of me with an afro perm when I was 19 and laugh.
